The waves are rolling, the leis are blooming, and the spirit of aloha is stronger than ever as Duke’s OceanFest 2025 kicks off in Honolulu. This annual festival honors the legendary Duke Paoa Kahanamoku, Olympic gold medalist, surfing pioneer, and Hawaii’s beloved “Ambassador of Aloha.”

🌺 Opening Ceremony & New License Plate Tribute

This year’s OceanFest began with a heartfelt ceremony at the Duke Kahanamoku Statue on Waikīkī Beach. A highlight was the unveiling of a new Hawaii specialty license plate featuring Duke’s likeness, designed by local artist Kamea Hadar. Proceeds from the plate will benefit the Outrigger Duke Kahanamoku Foundation, supporting drowning prevention and youth swimming programs across the islands.
