Born from a passion for Polynesian pop and the golden age of tropical cocktails, Tiki Lovers White Rum is more than just a bottle on the backbar – it’s a love letter to the art of tiki mixology. Crafted with precision and reverence for rum’s Caribbean roots, this white rum is a powerhouse of flavor, designed to elevate every Mai Tai, Daiquiri, and Jungle Bird it touches.
The Makers: From Bitters to Blenders
Tiki Lovers is the spirited brainchild of Stephan Berg and Alexander Hauck, the German bartending duo behind The Bitter Truth, a company renowned for its handcrafted cocktail bitters. Their journey into rum began with a simple frustration: too many tiki cocktails were being made with lackluster spirits. Determined to change that, they set out to create a rum that could stand up to bold tropical ingredients without losing its character.
Their solution? A blend that honors tradition while embracing intensity.
The Blend: Caribbean Complexity in a Clear Bottle
Tiki Lovers White Rum is a blend of aged and unaged rums from across the Caribbean, with a backbone built on the high-ester funk of Jamaican pot still rums from Monymusk and Worthy Park. These unaged rums bring the signature hogo—those wild, fruity, fermented notes that tiki aficionados crave.
To balance the boldness, the blend includes aged rum from Trinidad, mellowed in ex-bourbon barrels for up to five years. Though charcoal-filtered to remove color, the aging imparts subtle layers of vanilla, spice, and wood. A final touch of column-still rum from Trinidad adds clarity and crispness, rounding out the profile with a clean finish.
Bottled at a robust 50% ABV, this rum doesn’t shy away from the spotlight – it demands it.
Why It Shines in Tiki Cocktails
Tiki cocktails are layered, theatrical, and often packed with citrus, syrups, and spice. A lesser rum might get lost in the mix, but Tiki Lovers White Rum cuts through with bold tropical notes – think banana, coconut, lemon zest, and a whisper of petrol funk. It’s a rum that holds its own in a Zombie, yet still sings in a simple Daiquiri.
Whether you’re building a classic Navy Grog or riffing on a modern tiki creation, this rum brings depth, aroma, and backbone to the glass. It’s not just a supporting player – it’s the star of the show.
